Costco delivery: what it costs, and Same-Day vs 2-Day
Costco delivers groceries two ways. CostcoGrocery 2-Day Delivery charges $3 per item, waived on orders of $75 or more. Same-Day Delivery is run by Instacart, with a $35 minimum and no separate delivery fee from Costco: instead, item prices are higher than in the warehouse. Both are for members only, and both earn the Executive 2% reward.

Same-Day Delivery by Instacart
- Members only, at sameday.costco.com or in the Costco app, signed in with your Costco.com account. Non-members can order Costco items on Instacart.com but, Costco says, pay more than members.
- $35 minimum order. Costco says item prices include a service and delivery fee, marked up above your warehouse's prices to pay Instacart.
- Instacart+ members get lower item prices than non-Instacart+ members, Costco says.
- Delivered in the window you pick, the same day, next day or a day you choose. Contactless delivery is available except for alcohol and prescriptions, which need ID.
- A temporary card hold may show a higher amount than your order, to cover substitutions. It drops off within a day or two.
- Refunds for missing or damaged items go through Instacart within 7 days of delivery: 1-888-246-7822.
CostcoGrocery 2-Day Delivery
- Non-perishable pantry items tagged 2-Day Delivery on Costco.com. Choose Grocery in the search box to see them.
- $3 per item delivery fee, waived at $75 before tax. A tracker at the top of the page shows how close you are.
- Prices are slightly higher than in the warehouse, and Costco doesn't price-match grocery delivery to warehouse prices.
- One delivery address per order, and no more than 5 addresses a month.
- Returns work like any Costco purchase: any warehouse returns counter, Costco.com, or 1-800-955-2292.
The Executive $10 Instacart credit
Executive members get a $10 credit each month on one Same-Day order of $150 or more before tax, excluding alcohol and prescriptions. It's applied automatically at checkout, works on sameday.costco.com and on instacart.com/costco with your Executive membership linked, and doesn't roll over: a new credit starts on the 1st of each month. It isn't available on Costco.com.
Common questions
Is Costco delivery free?
2-Day grocery delivery is free on orders of $75 or more before tax, and Costco.com includes shipping on most items. Same-Day has no separate delivery fee: Costco says its higher item prices include the service and delivery fee.
Do you tip Costco Same-Day delivery drivers?
Tipping is up to you, at checkout. Instacart says its service fee isn't a tip and doesn't go to the shopper, and that 100% of your tip does.
Do you need a Costco membership for delivery?
Yes for Costco Same-Day and CostcoGrocery. Without one you can order Costco items on Instacart.com, at higher prices.
Is Costco delivery more expensive than the store?
Yes, for groceries. Costco says Same-Day prices are higher than your local warehouse and 2-Day prices are slightly higher, to cover delivery.
Does Costco delivery earn the Executive 2%?
Yes. Same-Day orders earn it on the warehouse price before Instacart's markup, and 2-Day and Costco.com orders earn it too. See the 2% reward, explained.
Can I pay with a Costco Shop Card?
Not for Same-Day orders. Costco suggests 2-Day Delivery if you want to use a Shop Card.
Can I use EBT for Costco delivery?
Costco's delivery FAQs don't mention EBT, so check at checkout. In the warehouse, Costco lists EBT among accepted payments; see what Costco accepts.
