Does Costco have EV chargers?

About one in four do. We found public chargers within about 250 meters of 152 of Costco's 660 U.S. warehouses (23%), and 85 of those have fast chargers. California leads by far: 62 warehouses, or 42% of its stores. In most other states, charging at Costco is still the exception, so check before you count on it.

How does charging at Costco work?

Most chargers at Costco are owned and run by a charging network, not by Costco. The network sets the price and handles payment, usually through its app, an account or a card reader on the charger. You don't pay for charging at the Costco register.

Some warehouses have more than one network.

How much does charging at Costco cost?

The charging network sets the price, not Costco, and it differs by network and location: some chargers are free, others charge per kWh, per minute or per hour of parking. Where the government database lists a price, we show it in the results, but it may be out of date and can apply to only some of the chargers there. Check the network's app for the current rate before you plug in.

Can I charge a Tesla at Costco?

At some warehouses. 25 of the warehouses in our data have Tesla chargers nearby, and Teslas can use other fast chargers with the right adapter. Each result lists the plug types: NACS (Tesla) fits a Tesla directly, while a CCS charger needs a CCS adapter. Some Tesla Superchargers are open to other brands too; the Tesla app shows which.

How fast is charging at Costco?

It depends on the charger type, which each result shows.

• Fast (DC) chargers add range quickly. Good for a top-up during a short shopping trip. Where Costco locations have them, there are usually around 8 fast ports, and up to 26.
• Level 2 chargers are much slower. Useful if you'll be in the store for a while, but they won't add much range on a quick visit.

Which plug does my car need?

Each result lists the plug types at that location. Across the 152 Costco locations with charging, J1772 is at 89, CCS at 67, NACS (Tesla) at 35 and CHAdeMO at 23.

In the U.S., most non-Tesla EVs use J1772 for Level 2 and CCS for fast charging. Teslas and a growing number of other models use NACS (Tesla), and some older models use CHAdeMO. If your car's plug isn't listed, you may need an adapter, so check the network's app before you go.

Where this data comes from

• EV chargers: U.S. Department of Energy Alternative Fuels Data Center, public stations open now. Downloaded October 14, 2026. A charger counts for a warehouse if it is within about 250 meters, so some may be in a neighboring lot.
• Warehouse locations: All The Places, which collects them from Costco's own warehouse locator.
• ZIP code locations: U.S. Census Bureau 2025 ZIP Code Tabulation Areas.

Chargers get added, removed and go out of service, so check the network's app before you rely on one. Looking for gas instead? See Costco gas stations near you.
