Does Costco UK take Amex? What you can pay with
Yes. American Express isn't on Costco's U.S. or Canadian lists, but Costco UK takes American Express, Mastercard and Visa credit cards, as well as UK Maestro and Visa Debit cards, cash and cheques in the warehouse. At the petrol pump it's cards only.

"Not on Costco's list" means Costco's UK terms don't mention it, not that it's refused.
The rules
- Cards must be in the member's name. Debit and credit cards have to belong to a cardholder on the membership.
- Cheques must be for the exact amount, from the member's own account with their name printed on it. The warehouse manager sets limits, and Costco charges £25 for a bounced cheque.
- Petrol: pay at the pump with chip and PIN. Costco holds £120 on your card first; see Costco petrol stations.
- The Executive reward is loaded onto your membership card and comes off your bill at a UK warehouse checkout. It can't be used online.

Yes, in the warehouse, at the petrol pumps and on Costco.co.uk.
Does Costco UK take cash?
Yes in the warehouse, but not at the petrol pumps, which are card-only.
Can I use someone else's card at Costco?
No. Costco UK's terms say debit and credit cards must be in the member's name.
Can I pay with my phone?
Not at the petrol pumps, where Costco says Apple Pay and Google Pay aren't accepted. Costco's terms don't mention phone payments in the warehouse, so ask at the till.
